How Did All This Weight Creep Up on Me?

I’m not sure how it happened, but I woke up one day and realized that I was 75 pounds overweight. A perfect storm of pregnancy weight, poor eating habits, and no regular exercise program had left me in terrible physical shape. I simply ignored and didn’t notice the extra weight as it crept on. I was living in a fantasy land where I was still at my physical peak in fitness and not far from my ideal weight.

Fat Loss Alert and Reality Check

The first dose of reality about my weight was the horrible knee pain I was suffering from. I simply thought it was the normal aches and pains of growing older and ignored the impact my weight was having on my knees (let alone the rest of my body).

What really got my attention and woke me up, though, was a simple picture I wanted to take for my Facebook page.

In my own mind, I didn’t see myself as fat. When I would see myself in the mirror, those glimpses were short enough to quickly fade from my mind. My Facebook image, though, helped me to finally see just how obese I really was. I couldn’t fool myself anymore. Forget a mid-waist up shot—they all turned out hideous. Even the face shot looked bloated to me, and I definitely couldn’t deny the triple chins staring right at me every time I signed in to my account. Was that really the image I wanted the world to see? Was that really who I was?

How about you? Have you had your moment of clarity? Is your self-image reality based? If so, good. You can do something about it—I did.

You Must Make a Definite Decision to Lose the Weight

The key is to make a definite decision. You have to draw a line in the sand, push in your stake, and declare, “I’m not going to take it anymore. I’m not going to destroy my body with my food and exercise choices. From here on out, I’m making life-giving choices for me and for my body!”

Now, take immediate action. And I do mean immediate. Whether you realize it or not, your excess weight is an emergency of the first order and must be dealt with immediately. It’s so easy to tell yourself you’ll start tomorrow, or next week, or when it’s more convenient. Trust me, you’ll never get around to it.

Instead, resolve to add some movement to your day today—preferably right now—even if it’s simply a walk around the block. Then, resolve to eat less at your very next meal—even before you pick a diet program to move you toward your ideal weight. Even minor changes in your diet can lead to significant positive changes. Choose water as your thirst-quenching drink. Add extra vegetables to your plate and make the meat portion smaller and the grains even smaller than that.

If You’re Really Serious About Losing the Fat

If you’re really serious about weight loss, choose a plan to help you along the way. A specific plan will help teach you healthy food and exercise choices. It will retrain you and support you along your weight-loss path. I know having a plan really helped me. I lost 24 pounds in 3 months and already feel like a new woman. I’m not at my goal weight, yet, but I’m sure zooming along the path toward reaching it.

One wonderful program you could try teaches you to turn your body into a fat burning furnace. I highly recommend it and encourage you to check it out right now. Don’t put it off any longer. Take control of your life, your eating, and your weight. Before you know it, you’ll be successfully shedding fat and losing pounds. As you lose weight, you’ll gain energy. As you gain energy, losing weight will become easier.

I know there’s a winner in you. Win the fight against fat.
